Courtesy Bulletin
With the increase in participation in the Royal St. John’s Regatta, Boathouse Staff and Regatta Committee Members would like to ensure all participants are aware of the rules and courtesy between crews.
Crews are reminded of the following:
- All boats on the pond should follow the Counter-Clockwise Flow Pattern, regardless of pond conditions.
- Please be courteous of the flow pattern when stopping at the starting and turning kegs.
- Stay on the inside of the green keg just past the jog (this provides safe docking zone for slide seat boats).
- At the top of the pond, stay in between the green keg and keg # 1 to prevent rowing to close to shore.
- Crews are not permitted to book two spin times before 8:20amand after 5:05 pm. We will be monitoring bookings and cancellations.
- Crews should return to the dock promptly at the end of their spin.
- Coxswains are required to wear a life jacket while on the water.
Warnings will be issued by boathouse staff.
1st warning- crews will receive an email from the fitness coordinator.
2nd, 3rd, and 4th warnings- crews will be issued a suspension (see below) of their online booking access by the Captain of the Course and/or the Director of Boathouse and Pond.
2nd warning- online booking access will be suspended for 1 day.
3rd warning- online booking access will be suspended for 3 days.
4th warning- online booking access will be suspended for 7 days.
Crews are reminded to be ready for your spin on time. There will be a 5 minute grace period. If not all 6 rowers and coxswain are present 5 minutes after the start of the spin, crews waiting for a boat will receive the boat.
Please provide two hours notice when cancelling a spin in order to provide other crews the opportunity to book the spin time.
When practicing starts and turns, please communicate your plan to your fellow coxswains for the safety of all crews.
If you have any questions or concerns, please ask Boathouse Staff or send an email to [email protected].
