The Royal St. John’s Regatta Committee Partners with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador for the Confederation 75 Royal St. John’s Regatta
May 28, 2024 (St. John’s, NL) – The 206th running of the Royal St. John’s Regatta, scheduled for Wednesday, August 7th(weather permitting) will be known as the Confederation 75 Royal St. John’s Regatta. In partnership with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, this year’s Regatta will be named in honour of Newfoundland and Labrador’s 75 years of Confederation with Canada.
“As the whole Province comes together to mark this important part of our history, we are excited to join the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador in celebrating our 75 years of Confederation,” said Ashley Peach, President of the Royal St. John’s Regatta Committee. “I can think of no better way for us to honour this historic occasion than declaring this year’s Regatta the Confederation 75 Royal St. John’s Regatta.”
The Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation will also be contributing $65,000 in funding to enhance this year’s Regatta. Funding will enable the Royal St. John’s Regatta Committee to purchase Confederation 75 branded medals, reduce operational costs, and offer a free Regatta Eve concert on Tuesday, August 6th.
The free Regatta Eve concert will be held lakeside at The Bandstand and will showcase local Newfoundland and Labrador talent including The Salt Beef Junkies (5:30pm – 6:30pm), The Ennis Sisters (6:45pm – 7:45pm) and The Irish Descendants (8pm – 9pm). Gulliver’s Buses will operate its load and go service between Confederation Building and Dominion, Kings Bridge Road between 5pm and 9:30pm. Accessible busses will also be available.
The Royal St. John’s Regatta Committee is once again pleased to partner with Inclusion NL this year. Inclusion NL staff and volunteers will be available on Regatta Eve and Regatta Day to provide supports, services and information.
